Best Air Purifier for Bedroom UK (2026): Quiet & Sleep-Friendly
Updated: October 2026 · Prices checked 17 Oct 2026
Sleep-Mode Comparison Table
The most useful asset for a bedroom purchase is not the peak CADR — it is what the machine does at the speed you actually run it overnight. Four picks compared below.

| Coway Airmega 150 | 20 dB | Not published (pollen 277 m³/h at max — manufacturer m³/h) |
Auto-dims | 18 m² | £149.99 |
| Levoit Core 300S | 24 dB | Not published (pollen 246 m³/h at max — converted from AHAM CFM) |
Dims / off via app | 12 m² | £84.99 |
| Levoit Core 200S | 24 dB | Not published (pollen 165 m³/h at max — converted from AHAM CFM) |

The Honest CADR-at-Sleep-Speed Note
Every air purifier manufacturer publishes CADR at maximum fan speed. That number tells you peak cleaning capacity — useful for sizing, useless for predicting what the machine actually cleans at 2 am when it is set to its quietest mode.
The physics is straightforward: CADR scales roughly with airflow volume, and airflow drops significantly at lower fan speeds. A model with 246 m³/h pollen CADR at maximum will deliver somewhere between 100 and 170 m³/h at sleep speed — but no manufacturer in this comparison publishes that figure. The sleep-speed CADR gap is a known industry shortcoming, not unique to any one brand.
What this means for buyers: size the purifier for your room based on rated CADR, then choose sleep mode knowing it will clean more slowly. For a 12 m² bedroom, the Core 300S is correctly sized; its sleep-speed CADR, while unpublished, is still adequate for overnight allergen reduction. Under-sizing by buying a machine rated for 8 m² in a 14 m² bedroom will be more noticeable at sleep speed.

Display Light Behaviour
Display brightness is the second sleep factor after noise — and the one buyers discover too late. A bright LED quality indicator at 2 am in a dark room is a meaningful problem for light-sensitive sleepers.
- Coway Airmega 150: auto-dims the display when the room darkens. No app required. The most passive behaviour of the four picks.
- Levoit Core 300S: display dims in sleep mode; can be set fully off via the VeSync app. Requires initial app setup but gives the most control.
- Levoit Core 200S: dims automatically in sleep mode. No app required for basic dimming; no full-off option without the app.
- Blueair Blue 3210: the fabric cover acts as a diffuser and dims the indicator ring when wrapped. Lowest-tech solution — physically blocking the light rather than dimming it electronically.
The Coway 150 and the Core 300S (with app) offer the cleanest overnight experience for light-sensitive sleepers. The Blueair's fabric cover approach works but feels like a workaround.
Our Bedroom Picks in Detail
Best Overall Bedroom
Coway Airmega 150
The quietest pick at 20 dB — the only model in this comparison below 24 dB. ECARF certified for allergens. Auto-dims the display without needing an app.
- Sleep noise: 20 dB
- Room coverage: 18 m² at 3 ACH
- CADR (pollen): 277 m³/h (converted from AHAM CFM)
- UK price: £149.99
Best Budget Bedroom
Levoit Core 300S
24 dB in sleep mode — same as the 200S, but covers 50% more room (12 m² vs 8 m²). Display can be turned fully off via the VeSync app. The most capable budget bedroom pick.
- Sleep noise: 24 dB
- Room coverage: 12 m² at 3 ACH
- CADR (pollen): 246 m³/h (converted from AHAM CFM)
- UK price: £84.99
Best Silent Pick — 18 dB
Blueair Blue Max 3250i
At 18 dB it is near-inaudible in any bedroom environment — below the ambient background of most UK bedrooms. Covers 33 m² at 3 ACH, far larger than any small bedroom. The washable fabric pre-filter reduces maintenance frequency in dusty or pet-hair environments. HEPASilent technology (not EN 1822 certified).
- Sleep noise: 18 dB
- Room coverage: 33 m² at 3 ACH
- CADR: 239 m³/h (manufacturer m³/h)
- UK price: £129.00
Best Under £100
Levoit Core 200S
At £69.99 it is the cheapest pick here, with the same 24 dB sleep noise as the 300S. The trade-off is coverage: 8 m² at 3 ACH is right for a single bedroom box room but undersized for most UK double bedrooms.
- Sleep noise: 24 dB
- Room coverage: 8 m² at 3 ACH
- CADR (pollen): 165 m³/h (converted from AHAM CFM)
- UK price: £69.99
Bedroom Size and CADR: Getting the Sizing Right
The rule of thumb for bedrooms is 3 air changes per hour (ACH) — that means the purifier should be able to process the room's volume three times every hour. At a standard 2.4 m ceiling height, the coverage figures in the table above apply directly.
If your bedroom has higher ceilings — common in Victorian terraces and converted flats — you need more CADR than the m² figure suggests. A Victorian double bedroom at 13 m² with 2.7 m ceilings has a volume of 35.1 m³, requiring 105 m³/h at 3 ACH rather than 94 m³/h for the same room with a modern ceiling.
