Levoit Core 300S UK Review (2026): £84.99, Running Costs & True Room Coverage
Updated: October 2026 · Prices checked 17 Oct 2026
3-Year Total Cost: Core 200S vs 300S vs 400S
The most common buying question for the Core 300S is whether to save £15 and buy the 200S, or spend £90 more for the 400S. The table below answers that with the actual numbers at 12 hours/day use and the Ofgem Q1 2026 rate of 24.5p/kWh.
| Model | Unit price | Elec/yr (12h/day) | Filter/yr | Annual running cost | 3-year total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Levoit Core 200S | £69.99 | £6.44 | £29.98 | £36.42 | £179.25 |
| Levoit Core 300S (this model) | £84.99 | £8.59 | £39.98 | £48.57 | £230.70 |
| Levoit Core 400S | £174.99 | £12.88 | £49.98 | £62.86 | £363.57 |
Electricity at Ofgem Q1 2026 rate: 24.5p/kWh. Filter cost based on Levoit UK replacement filter prices (6-month interval). 3-year total = unit price + (annual running cost × 3).
The decision framework:
- Room under 10 m²: buy the Core 200S (£179.25 over 3 years). The 300S covers more room than you need and costs £51 more over the period.
- Room 10–20 m²: buy the Core 300S. It covers 12 m² at 3 ACH — the right size for a standard UK double bedroom or small living room. The 300S costs £51 more than the 200S over 3 years but covers 50% more room.
- Room over 20 m²: buy the Core 400S. It covers 25 m² at 3 ACH. The 400S costs £133 more than the 300S over 3 years but covers more than twice the room (12 m² → 25 m²). See the Core 400S review and 300S vs 400S comparison.
UK Specs at a Glance
Room Coverage: What 12 m² at 3 ACH Means for UK Homes
Levoit markets the Core 300S as suitable for rooms up to 17 m². That figure uses a 1 ACH (air change per hour) calculation — meaning the machine processes the room volume once per hour. At 1 ACH the air is cycled too infrequently for meaningful allergen or particle reduction.
The UK standard for effective air cleaning is 3 ACH. At this rate, the Core 300S covers 12 m² at a 2.4 m ceiling height. For UK reference points:
- Single bedroom (box room): typically 8–10 m² — the 300S covers this with headroom.
- Double bedroom (modern build): typically 12–14 m² — the 300S is correctly sized for 12 m², borderline for 14 m².
- Victorian double bedroom: typically 13 m² at 2.7 m ceilings — the higher ceiling increases volume to 35.1 m³; the 300S is slightly undersized for 3 ACH at this volume.
For bedroom use, the 300S is the right pick for most UK double bedrooms. Use the room sizing tool to enter your exact room dimensions.
Running Costs at the Ofgem Rate
Running costs at 12 hours/day, Ofgem Q1 2026 rate (24.5p/kWh):
- Electricity: £8.59/year (8W typical draw × 12h × 365 days at 24.5p)
- Filter replacement: £39.98/year (£19.99 per filter × 2 replacements per year at 6-month interval)
- Annual running cost: £48.57/year
- 3-year total (including unit): £230.70
Filter cost is the dominant running expense — more than four times the electricity cost. For a full breakdown of how running costs compare across UK models, see our air purifier running cost guide.
Filter: Cost, Interval, and UK Availability
The Core 300S uses a combined HEPA + activated carbon filter (replacement part: Core 300S-RF or Core 300-RF depending on variant). At the time of writing, genuine Levoit replacement filters are available from Levoit UK direct, Amazon UK, and selected retailers.
Levoit recommends 6-month replacement intervals under typical use. In high-pollution environments — near roads, with pets, or in smoky conditions — expect 4–5 months before filter degradation is measurable. The filter indicator in the VeSync app provides a usage-based alert rather than a fixed calendar reminder.
The H13-grade claim: Levoit states the Core 300S filter is "H13 True HEPA" but does not hold EN 1822 certification on the UK product. The filtration performance is AHAM-verified (99.97% at 0.3 µm), which is functionally equivalent — but if EN 1822 independent certification is a requirement, the Core 300S does not currently meet it.
Who Should Buy the Core 300S
The Core 300S is the right choice if:
- Your room is 10–15 m² at a standard 2.4 m ceiling height.
- You want a bedroom purifier with reliable 24 dB sleep mode and app-controlled display off.
- You are buying your first purifier and want the most capable sub-£100 option. See also our best bedroom air purifier guide and best under £100 guide.
It is not the right choice if your room is over 20 m² — the Core 400S is better value per m² covered at that size.
